Hi, I’m Kaspar. Wurzelfoo is my personal notebook that collects snippets and thoughts around my online and real life. In the latter, I was born in the early 80’s and live in Berlin/Germany, together with my beautiful girlfriend. I’m trying to fill my fridge as a freelancing systems administrator, specialized in MacOS and *BSD systems.

Getting Transmission to work with feeds

I love Transmission. It is fast and it’s minimal approach doesn’t get in my way. But one feature that it’s missing is the ability to be able to use rss-feeds for your daily portion of TV-Shows linux distributions. And that’s where Automatic comes into play: Automatic is basically a tool that downloads enclosures from feeds with the ability to filter them for certain items and to optionally open them.

So if you

  • head over to your favoutite content distributor,
  • grab the feed that contains the items you want,
  • paste it into Automatic,
  • set a filter to grab your desired items (consult the incuded “Quick Start Guide” for help on the regular expressions) and
  • either set Automatic to “Open after downloading” or keep Transmission running while i watches the download folder

you’re good to go.
